66th National Film award: Know its History & List of Winners
The announcement of 66th National Film Awards was held on 9th August 2019 at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi. It was delayed by three months because of Lok Sabha Election in the country. The awards were an outcome of the result recommendations given by the National panel to Prakash Javedhkar, Information and broadcasting minister. The award considers both feature and none feature films of the year 2018. It considers not just Hindi cinema but the other cinema in regional languages also.
History of National Film Awards
The National Film Award is one of the Most Prestigious award ceremonies in India. It was established in 1954. A national panel appointed by the government has beheld the responsibility of selecting the best performances from the film industry. The ceremony is organized in New Delhi every year. Notably, President of India felicitates the best performances. This ceremony is followed by National Film Festival where these winning films are screened.
Results of National Film Awards
From Hindi Films, Andhadhun won the best film, Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal as the Best Actor. Uri won the award for best direction while Badhai Ho is selected as Best Popular Film providing wholesome entertainment.

Best Film for National Integration – Ondalla Eradalla (Kannada)
Best Educational Film: Sarala Virala
Best Cinematography – Olu (Malayalam) to MJ Radhakrishnan
Best Children’s Film: ‘Sarkari Hiriya Prathamika Shale Kasargodu’ (Kannada)
Best Child artist: P V Rohith (Kannada), Sameep Singh (Punjabi), Talha Arshad Reshi (Urdu) and Shrinivas Pokale (Marathi)
Best Debut Film of a Director: Naal (Marathi)
Best Choreography: ‘Ghoomer’ in ‘Padmavaat’
Best Editing: ‘Nathicharami’ (Kannada)
Best Special Effects: KGF
