B R Ambedkar’s Birthday

Also, Famous by the name of Babasaheb Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1856 in Nagar, Madhya Pradesh. B R Ambedkar is known as an Indian Jurist, economist, politician, social reformer who inspired the Dalit Buddhist movement and campaigned against social discrimination towards untouchability, while also supporting the rights of women and labour. He is considered the father of the Republic of India and the architect of the constitution of India.

Kailasavadivoo Sivan

Chairman, Indian Space Research Organisation took birth on 14th April 1957. He has previously served as the Director of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Center and the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre.

Tarabai Bhosale

Tarabai took birth on this day in 1675. She remained the regent of the Maratha Empire of India from 1700 until 1708. She was the queen of Chhatrapati Rajaram Bhosale, daughter-in-law of the empire’s founder Shivaji and mother of Shivaji II. She is acclaimed for her role in keeping alive the resistance against Mughal

1: world war I

World Wars have added a number of dates, names and much more to the curriculum of history. On this day in 1918 American pilots engaged in a first aerial dogfight with enemy aircraft over the western front.

2: U.S Bombings against Libya

Airstrikes and the U.S army have a long history. On April 14, 1986, the US launched airstrikes against Libya and justified it with the claim that Libya was sponsoring terrorism in America. The raid involved almost 100 air force and Navy aircraft and lasted for an hour.

3: Soviets to withdraw the forces

On 14th April 1988 USSR, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and America signed an agreement to withdraw the forces from Afghanistan and the United States agreed to stop arm support to Afghanistan. The agreement has seen the defeat of the USSR however they called it a peace agreement.

4: Vietnam war

Just type the word “WAR” in google it will either show you pictures from world wars or the horrifying pictures of Vietnam war which indeed was the most brutal war that has been fought ever. The war left almost 5,000 children orphans. On this day America concluded its operation “Baby Lift”. The operation was to lift Vietnamese orphans to the U.S. Their official figure shows that some 2,600 orphans were airlifted.

5: Black Sunday

one of the most devastating storms of the 1930s Dustbowl era swept across the region on this day. High winds kicked up the millions of tons of clouds along with dirt and dust.

6: American webster’s dictionary

On this day in 1818, Noah Webster a lawyer by profession and a linguist, published the very first dictionary that included American words in-particular. It took him more than two decades to complete it. It is considered the first standardized dictionary of American English. It helped to correct the spellings and meanings of the words. Also, it introduced the concept of Americanisms.
