1563 Guru Arjan

Born at Goindval, Punjab, Guru Arjan is the fifth guru of Sikhism. He compiled the first official edition of the Sikh scripture called the Adi Granth, which later expanded into the Guru Granth Sahib.  Guru Arjan led Sikhism for a quarter of a century and completed the construction of Darbar Sahib at Amritsar after the fourth Sikh Guru founded the town and built a pool.

Marshal Airforce Arjun Singh

Born in 1919 in Faisalabad, Pakistan. Arjun Singh was the senior-most Indian Airforce officer who served many key positions. For his commendable efforts in commanding IAF during Indo-Pakistan war of 1965, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan. In 1966, he became the first IAF officer to be promoted to air chief marshal. He has also served the term of Lieutenant Governor of Delhi 1989-1990.

N Somnath

Born at Bhagamandala, Karnataka. Somnath was a politician and lawyer. He was an Indian National Congress leader in Coorg State and served as the Member of Parliament for the state in the first legislature after the independence of India.

1886 President Lincoln dies

Abraham Lincoln the 16th president of the US, dies from a bullet wound, fired by Wilkes Booth, an actor and the Confederate sympathizer. The president’s death came 6 days after the Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered.

1912 Titanic Sinks

Titanic one of the largest and most luxurious ocean liners ever built departed Southampton, England, on its maiden voyage across The Atlantic Ocean. At 2:20 Am British ocean liner Titanic sinks into the North Atlantic Ocean. The massive ship, which carried 2200 passengers and crew, had struck the iceberg two and a half hours before.

1947 Jackie Robinson breaks color barriers

At the age of 28, Jackie Robinson becomes the first African American player in major league Baseball. He broke the color barrier in a sport that had been segregated for more than 50 years.

1959 Castro visited the USA

Four months after leading a successful revolution in Cuba, Fidel Castro visits the United States. The visit was marked between Castro and the American government.

2013 Boston Marathon Bombing

Two bombs go off near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing three spectators and wounding more than 260 other people in attendance. Four days later, after an intense manhunt that shut down the Boston area, police captured one of the bombing suspects.
