Social reformer Dhondo Keshav Karve born

Born in Dapoli, Maharashtra on April 1858. Famous for his contribution on women empowerment government of India awarded him with the highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna in 1958. In his honor Queen’s road in Mumbai (Bombay) was renamed to Maharshi Karve Road. He is the only living Indian to appear on Indian postal stamp.

Samikannu Vincent born

Samikannu Vincent was born in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. His first theater was Variety Hall (now Delite Theater) in Coimbatore in 1914. He was a pioneer in making movies, popular in Madras presidency and contributing to growth of it by buying new equipment from abroad as well as establishing the concept of Modern-day theater’s that exist today.

Politician cum Social activist Sanat Mehta born

Born in Gujrat, Sanat Mehta born was as an Indian politician and social activist from Gujarat, India. He was associated with Indian National Congress. He served as labour and finance minister of the state.

1: San Francisco Earthquake

San Francisco is always known for its rich culture and architecture since its existence. There unique way of dressing, and the beautiful skull caps and curved edge hats sets them apart from the rest of the world. There the  tin-roofed tall and boat like buildings stands firm to portray their traditional architecture. On this day, in 1906, San Francisco was jolted by a high frequency and thousands of buildings turned into ashes. The frequency was estimated at 8.0 at the Richter scale and the death toll was almost 3,000. Its shock waves were felt in Los Angeles.

  2: Mt. EVEREST

We are almost aware of the Mount Everest peaks and its importance in forming the weather in the Asian region. Hundreds of mountaineers have reached its highest peak (also the highest peak in the world) to explore the mountain range. However, on this day in 2014, a group of mountaineers were hit by an avalanche and it is referred to as the single deadliest avalanche at the mountain range. Most of them belonged to Nepal. Some of the dead bodies were found but most of them still rest in the mountain range.

3: Attack on US embassy

A suicide bomb attacker almost destroyed US embassy in Beirut, Lebanon on April 18, 1983. The attack left 63 people dead including 17 Americans. The attack was carried out in retaliation of US military presence in Lebanon. It was American involvement in the attack was claimed by the world political experts. However, the American authority denied the claims and blamed its security failure.

4: Death of Dick Clark

On April 12, 2012, famous American tv personality known for “American Bandstand”

He died of a heart attack in Sans Monica, California. The show has been dubbed in almost 13 languages till now and still holds the popularity among music lovers all over the world. He is known for setting the base of music reality shows in the world.
