2016 – Central Italy Earthquake
On August 24, 2016, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 strikes Central Italy, killed 299 people, injured 388 and 4500 were homeless.
2008 – Iraq Suicide Bombing
On August 24, 2008, a suicide bombing in a part of Baghdad, Iraq killed 25 people and injured another 30. The attack was believed to be carried out by Al-Queda against Sunni Awakening groups.
