SBI’S MD Anshula Kant will serve the World Bank as MD & CFO
The president of World Bank (WB), David Malpass, on Friday, announced Anshula Kant as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the World Bank. Anshula is serving the financial and innovation section of India for the last 35 years. She was the MD of India’s largest bank, State Bank of India before being appointed by the World Bank.
The president, David Malpass said, “I am pleased to appoint Anshula Kant as MD and CFO of WB Group. She brings along, more than 35 years of expertise in finance, innovation and banking with her work as MD of SBI. Anshula is a leader with diverse traits. She believes in challenges, risk, treasury, funding, regulatory compliance and operations. I look forward to welcoming her in our team and to work together to increase our effectiveness in supporting development.”
Let’s take a look at her early life
Kant is an Economics Graduate from Lady Shri Ram College for Women at the University of Delhi. She completed her post-graduation from Delhi School of Economics. At SBI, she has worked greatly in improving the capital base and sustainability of SBI. As CFO in SBI, she managed the revenue of USD 38 billion and total assets of USD 500 billion. She is serving as MD of SBI since 2018.
As the MD, Anshula will be responsible for all the financial matters and risk management. She will work directly with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of WB and International Development Association (IDA) along with other financial concerns of the world.
Anshula’s appointment as MD and CFO of World Bank is a remarkable achievement for the nation. The lady figure has proved that women are no far from achieving milestones in every sector.
