DU Colleges releases 2 Cut off for UG Admission

DU colleges released their second Cut off for UG admissions and it’s still soaring! 


Colleges under Delhi University released their second cut off on Wednesday evening. The second list has recognised a marginal dip of 0.5 – 1.5 per cent in most of the courses. More than 23000 students have taken admission in various colleges of Delhi University. Notably, it is almost four times the admissions recorded after the previous cut off last year. Around 25%of seats are filled after the first cut off.  Hence, the second cut off did not show any significant dip in numbers. The students eligible for admissions according to second cut off can get the admissions from 4-6 July 2019.

Hindi College, North Campus has closed the admissions for the general category for most of the courses except Economics Honours and B. Com. Honours. In South Campus, Lady Shri Ram College for Women has closed the admissions for general category in all courses except for English honours.

After the first cut off, Miranda House got the highest admissions.  The number of admissions crossed the whopping number of 1,100. Interestingly, it includes students scoring 100 per cent in their respective education boards.

The Sri Ram College of Arts and Commerce, which serves only two courses, B.A. Economics Honours and B. Com. Honours has closed the admissions in Economics honours for General and OBC category.

Most of the students prefer Delhi University for graduation in arts and commerce courses. Most of the applicants seeking admissions in DU belong to CBSE board and UP board. The number of students securing more than 90% in CBSE has increased by 8.9 per cent,  and it is the main reason behind soaring cut-offs. 

Conclusion

While talking to a leading daily, The admission committee head, Rajeev Gupta said, “They have received unexpected admissions right after the first list.  It is important to note that the upcoming cut-offs will not drop greatly.” 

He advised students to seek out their course as soon as possible. In that case, students have to look for different options available.
