Actress Aruna Irani born

Aruna Irani was born on May 3, 1952, Aruna Irani is an Indian actress, who has acted in more than 500 films throughout Hindi, Kannada, Marathi and Gujarati cinema, playing mostly supporting and character roles. She has won two Filmfare Awards for Best Supporting Actress, for Pet Pyaar Aur Paap (1985) and Beta (1993), she has been nominated for 10 awards. In 2012, Irani was honoured with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award at the 57th Filmfare Awards.

1. K. Krishna Menon

Vengalil Krishnan Krishna Menon (3 May 1896 – 6 October 1974) was an Indian nationalist, diplomat, and politician, described by some as the second most powerful man in India, after his ally, the 1st Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. He headed India’s diplomatic missions to the United Kingdom and the United Nations and distinguished himself in diplomatic matters including the Suez crisis. In 1957, Menon set the record for the longest speech (8 hours) before the U.N. He resigned in the wake of the Sino-Indian War, following allegations of India’s military unpreparedness.

Tamil poet S. Ramesan Nair born

Born on May 3, 1948, Ramesan Nair (born 3 May 1948 in Kumarapuram, Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu) is an Indian poet and lyricist. He has written lyrics for more than 450 songs for the Malayalam film industry, from 1985 onwards. He is a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award.

1469 Italian Philosopher Niccolo Machiavelli is born.

Italian philosopher and writer Niccolo Machiavelli took birth on May 3, 1469. A lifelong patriot and diehard proponent of a unified Italy, Machiavelli became one of the fathers of modern political theory.  At the age of 29, he entered into the political service if his native Florence.

1942 Battle of Coral Sea

The first Naval engagement in History happened this day, which was named as the Battle of Coral Sea. A Japanese invasion force succeeds in occupying Tulagi of the Solomon Island in an expansion of Japan’s defence parameter.

1946 Japanese War crimes trial begins

 The Military tribunal for the far East begins hearing the case against 28 Japanese military and government officials. They were accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity during World War II. The trial was taken in Tokyo, Japan. During the trial, 25 out of 28 personnel were found guilty. 7 persons were given the death sentence and others were imprisoned for lifetime.

1962 Trains collide near Tokyo

Two commuter trains and a freight train collided near Tokyo, Japan. It resulted in the death of more than 160 people and injuring more than 320 on May 3, 1962. Notably, it was Constitution day in Japan when this accident happened.
