Taj Mahal is one of the oldest monuments of the Mughal Architecture. A white marble building which was built in the memory of Shah Jahan’s third wife, Mumtaz. Taj is among the 7 wonders of the world. In Arabic, it is called “The Crown of the Places”. The monument is located on the Southern Bank of Ganga in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. It has the representation of artworks from not just Islam but from Persian, Ottoman Turkish and Indian architectural styles.

1. Emperor Shah Jahan, in the memorial of his third wife, Mumtaz, constructed this wonder in the year 1632.

2. It required 2200 painter, artists, labours, stone cutters etc. to make the Taj.

3. It took a total of 17 years to build the Taj Mahal.

4. Shah Jahan, in order to restrict duplicate of Taj, ordered to cut the hands of all the workers and artists associated with the building

5. Taj Mahal is longer than  Kutub Minar. Where Kutub Minar is 72.5 metres long, Taj is 73 metres long.

6. Shah Jahan dreamt of getting a Black Mahal similar to Taj Mahal for himself. Since he was imprisoned under his son’s reign, he couldn’t do that.

7. All the four pillars around the mausoleum are constructed in such a way that they can protect the mausoleum from earthquakes and other problems.

8. It took a thousand of Elephants just to bring the material for the building of Taj Mahal.
