1971 – Lunar Rover Used in Apollo Mission

On July 30, 1971, Apollo 15 Mission, David Scott and James Irwin on the Apollo Lunar Module Falcon landed on the Moon with the first Lunar Rover to begin exploring the moon’s surface.

1965 – U.S.A. Social Security Act

On July 30, 1965, U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Social Security Act of 1965 into law, establishing Medicare and Medicaid.

1869 – World’s First Oil Tanker

On July 30, 1869, “The Charles” considered the world’s first oil tanker with a bulk capacity of 7,000 barrels of oil departed from the USA to head towards Europe.

1619 –House of Burgesses Virginia formed

On July 30, 1619, the General Assembly, known as the House of Burgesses, was the first legislative assembly in the American colonies formed. It was the elected representative element of the Virginia General Assembly and the legislative body of the Colony of Virginia.

Novelist Patrick Modiano

On July 30, 1945, Jean Patrick Modiano, a French novelist was born. He was awarded the 2014 Nobel Prize in Literature.

Cricketer James Anderson

On July 30, 1982, James Michael Anderson, an English international cricketer was born. He is the all-time leading wicket-taker among fast bowlers and only English bowler to pass 500 Test wickets.

Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger

Born on July 30, 1947, Arnold Schwarzenegger, an actor, Body Builder and 38th Governor of California was born. He appeared in action films, including the Conan and Terminator series.

2014 – Landslide in Maharashtra

On July 30, 2014, 150 people were trapped after a landslide in Maharashtra, India. 20 people were killed due to the incident.

2012 – Fire in the train in Andhra Pradesh

On July 30, 2012, a train fire kills 32 passengers and injures 27 on the Tamil Nadu Express in Andhra Pradesh India.

2003 – Uttar Pradesh ‘Living Dead’

On July 30, 2003, In India LalBihari, president of the Association of the Living Dead, estimated 35,000 people in Uttar Pradesh state have been wrongly certified as dead.

2000 – Film star Rajkumar kidnapped by Veerappan and his gang

On July 30, 2000, in Tamil Nadu, India, film star Rajkumar and 3 companions were kidnapped by Veerappan and his gang. Veerappan was accused of killing at least 130 police officers and had escaped capture for 18 years.

1987 – India peace-keeping force in Sri Lanka

On July 30, 1987, Some 50,000 Indian troops arrived in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, to disarm the Tamil Tigers and enforce a peace pact. After a time they began fighting the Tigers and in 1990 the government asked them to leave.

Wajid Ali Shah

On July 30, 1822, Wajid Ali Shah, the tenth and last King of Awadh was born. He was a poet, playwright, dancer and great patron of the humanities. He is widely credited with the revival of Kathak as a serious sort of classical Indian dance.
