Born 8 May 1975 is a Tanzanian billionaire businessman and former politician. He owns the MeTL Group, a Tanzanian conglomerate founded by his father in the 1970s.

Madhu Varma Mantena

Madhu Varma Mantena was born on May 8, 1975, in Hyderabad. He is an Indian film producer and entrepreneur involved in the production and distribution of films across Hindi, Telugu, and Bengali cinema. In 2008, Madhu Mantena co-produced Ghajini (2008) which was the highest-grossing Indian film for that year. Within a timeframe of 50 days, he has made it into Limca Books of Records for theatrically releasing seven films.

1541 Spanish conquistador reached Mississippi

On May 8, 1541, Spanish conquistador Hernando de Soto reaches the Mississippi River. He was the first European explores to ever do so. De Soto and his 400 troops crossed the rived during the night, and have built flatboats to cross the river in order to avoid the armed Native Americans who were patrolling the river on frequently in war canoes. For two years they continue to search for gold and silver in the wilderness of America.

1864 General lee’s army beats Grants troops to Spotsylvania

On May 8, 1864, Yankee troops arrive at Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia, to find the rebels present there. Ulysses S. Grant’s Army of the Potomac marched south in the drive take Richmond. Grant was planning to get hold of all the strategic crossroads at Spotsylvania Court House so that he can pull Robert Lee’s army into open ground.

1846 Zachary Taylor fights the battle of Palo Alto

General Zachary Taylor defeats Mexican superior force in the battle of Palo Alto, before declaring the USA officially declares war on Mexica.

1964 Boxer Mohammad Ali impeached

On May 8, 1964, Boxer Mohammad Ali was indicted for refusing induction in the US Army.

1973 American Indian Movement (AIM) ends

On May 8, 1973, ending their 73-days siege of Wound Kneel, armed members of the American Indian Movement surrendered to federal authority. The site is already infamous for the massacre of 300 Sioux by the U.S 7th Cavalry in 1980.

1984 Soviet boycott 1984 Olympics

The Soviet declares that they will not participate in 1984 Olympics which was supposed to be held in Los Angeles, on the grounds of security.
