1931 – Birth Anniversary of A. P. J Abdul Kalam 

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam (15 October 1931 – 27 July 2015) was an Indian scientist and lawmaker, who served as the eleventh President of India from 2002 to 2007. He was known as a researcher and science director, for the most part at the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), and was engaged with military rocket advancement endeavours. 1932 – First Flight of Air India

1961 –  Death Anniversary of Poet Suryakant Tripathi 

Suryakant Tripathi ‘Nirala’((21 February 1896 – 15 October 1961) was poet, novelist, essayist, and pioneer of the Chhayavaad (Neo-Romantic) movement of Hindi literature. Like his pen name Nirala (unique), his craft was also unique. From the comic novel Nirupama to the heartbreaking novella Kulli Bhat, he experimented with different genres and themes. He was famous in both free verse and traditional meters but despite no fixed format, he never failed to mesmerize the reader.

2008 – Global Handwashing Day

Global Handwashing Day (GHD) is an international handwashing promotion campaign to motivate and mobilize people around the world to improve their handwashing habits. The aim behind this day is to tell people that washing hands at critical points during the day and washing with soap are both important. It was started in 2008 and is celebrated on 15 October of every year. It is dedicated to raising awareness of handwashing with soap as a key factor in disease prevention which can also reduce Respiratory and intestinal diseases by 25-50%.

1920 –  Birth Anniversary of Mario Puzo

Mario Gianluigi Puzo (October 15, 1920 – July 2, 1999) was an American writer, screenwriter, and columnist. He is known for his wrongdoing books about the Italian-American Mafia and Sicilian Mafia, most quite The Godfather (1969), which he later co-adjusted into a movie set of three coordinated by Francis Ford Coppola. He got the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for the primary film in 1972 and Part II in 1974. Puzo likewise composed the first screenplay for the 1978 Superman film. His last novel, The Family, was delivered after death in 2001.
