History – India

1950 – Birth Anniversary of Shri Narendra Modi

( The Prime Minister of India)

Narendra Damodardas Modi is an Indian politician serving as the 14th and current Prime Minister of India since 2014. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2004 and is the Member of Parliament from Varanasi.

1948 – Hyderabad as an Indian Union State

Operation Polo, which was started on 13th September 1948, came to its conclusion on 17th September 1948. Until 17th September 1948, Hyderabad was an independent country popularly named as the princely state with Nizam VII, Mir Osman Ali Khan as its ruler. On this day, Nizam’s Empire was eliminated as a separate region and included in the Indian Union States.

1915- Birth Anniversary of Maqbool Fida Hussain

(Indian Artists M.F.Hussain)

Maqbool Fida Husain also is known as M. F. Husain was born on 17th September 1915. He was a controversial Indian artist known for executing bold, vibrantly colored narrative paintings in a modified Cubist style. He was one of the most celebrated and internationally recognized Indian artists of the 20th century.

1949 – Foundation Day of D.M.K

On 17th September 1949, the State Political Party of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam was founded by C.N.Annadurai. It is currently headed by M Karunanidhi, who is the Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

2017 –  P.V.Sindhu – The First Indian Shuttler

On 17th September 2017, PV Sindhu became the first Indian to win the BWF World Championships when she crushed arch-rival Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in a lopsided. The Rio Olympics silver-medallist won 21-7 21-7 in the final that lasted just 38 minutes.

History – International

1976 – NASA Launched First Space Shuttle

On September 17, 1976, NASA publicly presented its first space shuttle, the Enterprise, during a ceremony in Palmdale, California. The aircraft-like spacecraft cost almost $10 billion and in 1977, became the first space shuttle to fly freely when it was lifted to a height of 25,000 feet by a Boeing 747 airplane and then released, gliding back to Edwards Air Force Base on its own accord.

1939 – The Invasion of Poland

On 17 September 1939, about 1 million troops of the Belarusian and Ukrainian Fronts of the Red Army crossed the eastern borders of Poland, thus violating the non-aggression pact of 1939, which started the Soviet invasion of Poland.
