2009-  Oceansat 2 – ISRO

Oceansat 2 is a satellite designed by the Indian Space Research Organisation. It was launched on 23rd September 2009  by Satish Dhawan Space Center and contains the features of 960 kg of mass and 1360 watt of power. It was designed to provide service continuity for operational users of the Ocean Colour Monitor instrument on Oceansat-1. It will also enhance the potential of applications in other areas.

1908- Birth Anniversary of Ramdhari Singh Dinkar

Ramdhari Singh Dinkar was a poet, essayist, and a patriot in Indian history. He was born on 23rd September 1908 in Simiriya village of the Bengal region. He was considered one of the most important modern Hindi poets and was awarded Jnanpith Award, Padma Bhushan, and Sahitya Akademi Award. His major works include Rashmirathi, Hunkar, and many other essays and works.

1846 – Discovery of Neptune

On 23rd September 1846, the eighth and the farthest planet (from the sun) of the solar system was found. Neptune was discovered by Johann Gottfried Galle using calculations by Urbain Le Verrier and John Couch Adams. It is the fourth-largest planet by diameter, the third-most-massive planet, and the densest giant planet.

1641- Merchant Royal Shipwreck

 (The Merchant Royal Ship)

Merchant Royal was a 17th-century English merchant ship launched in 1627 and was built by  ‎Deptford Dockyard‎ in London. On 23rd September 1641, the ship was lost on the southern coast of England due to rough weather. Researchers found that the ship was carrying 100,000 pounds of gold and 400 bars of Mexican silver, as well as almost 500,000 pieces of Spanish dollars during the shipwreck.

1939 – Death Anniversary of Sigmund Freud

Sigmund Freud was an Austrian neurologist and the founder of psychoanalysis. He was also known as the medical doctor, psychologist, and influential thinker of the early twentieth century. He contributed to medical science by giving the theory of human behaviour and treating mental illness.

2002 – The First version of Firefox

On 23rd September 2002, the first version of Firefox, Phoenix 0.1 was released. Phoenix is a redesign of the Mozilla browser component similar to Galeon, K-Meleon, and Camino. It is written by using the XUL user interface language and designed to be cross-platform.

September 23 is also known as the Inaugural Day of the Nintendo Company. It is a Japanese multinational consumer electronics and video game company headquartered in Kyoto. The company was founded in 1889 and originally produced handmade playing cards.
