A PO or a Probationary officer is basically an Assistant Manager of Scale I in a bank. After the selection criteria are over, a The probationary officer has to go through an intensive training program at the Institute of Banking Management where they are trained. The probation period of a Probationary Officer may last for 2 years but it differs from Bank to Bank.
Role of a Bank PO
The main job of a Bank PO is to provide optimal service to its customers. He or she has to make sure that the business of the bank keeps on growing. Customers’ queries should be handled in a way proper. Addressing various customer related issues such as discrepancies in accounts, the rectification of undue charges. Once they adapt to the working environment of the bank, then they are given some more serious responsibilities such as planning, loan processing, investment management, etc.

Every year a lot of banks conduct Bank PO Exams to recruit young officers. The major banks that participate in this process are as follows:

Bank PO Salary
The banks pay their probationary officers quite a handsome salary. The basic pay of SBI PO is 23,700. In addition to this basic salary, the officers are also eligible for Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, CCA, Special Allowance . The total salary thus amounts to Rs. 40,239 per month.
Eligibility for the Bank PO Exam
Before applying for this post. It is extremely important to know eligibility. A candidate must be 21- 30 Years old while applying for the Bank PO Exam. Age relaxation is given to candidates belonging to SC/ST. The candidates belonging to OBC are given the age relaxation of 3 years.
Minimum Educational Qualification of the candidate must be that of graduate from a designated University.
A candidate must also not hold any criminal record. If found guilty, their application could get canceled.
