1989 – First Lady Cheif Justice of India

She was the principal lady to be selected as a Supreme Court Justice of India. She was likewise the first Muslim lady in Higher Judiciary in an Asian nation. 1934 –  Birth Anniversary of Cho Ramaswamy

Srinivasa Iyer Ramaswamy is also known as Cho Ramaswamy, was an Indian actor, editor, political satirist, dramatist, and lawyer of Tamil Nadu. He was born on 5th October 1934, in Mylapore Chennai. He was a multi-faceted character, a researcher, mastermind, and a man who openly criticized the oppression of Dravidian legislative issues. He was among the few political analysts who had a fine balance of reason and logic.  

 

 2011 – India Launched World’s cheapest tablet PC

 

On October 5, 2011, India launched the world’s cheapest tablet PC in New Delhi named as Aakash. It was an Android-based tablet computer promoted by the Government of India as part of an initiative to link 25,000 colleges and 400 universities in an e-learning program. The Aakash was a 7-inch touch screen that was costing Rupees 2,250. It was running under the Android 2.2 operating system with an ARM 11 processor and 256 MB RAM.

1910 –  End of Monarch in Portugal

5 October 1910,  marks the overthrow of the centuries-old monarchy and its replacement by the First  Republic in the history of Portugal. By 1910, Portugal’s Kingdom was in deep crisis and was dealing with a lot of royal expenses. There was  British pressure on Portugal’s colonies and the King got assassinated in 1908. These factors suddenly changed the religious and social views. The regime’s apparent inability to adapt to modern times all led to widespread resentment against the Monarchy.

1962 – First release of the James Bond Series

The James Bond series is a fictional British Secret Service agent created in 1953 by writer Ian Fleming, who featured him in twelve novels and two short-story collections. On October 5, 1962, the first series of  James Bond film, “Dr. No,” was premiered in London. It was based on Ian Fleming’s novels and moviegoers were riveted by the suave superspy, codenamed 007, for the first time. The day is known as the Global James Bond day since that day all over the world.

 

2011 – Death Anniversary of Steve Jobs 


Steven Paul Jobs was an American business magnate, industrial designer, investor, and media proprietor.  He was the chairman, chief executive officer (CEO), and co-founder of Apple Inc., the chairman and majority shareholder of Pixar. He was a member of The Walt Disney Company’s board and the founder, and CEO of NeXT. On 5th October 2011, he died in Palo Alto after battling pancreatic cancer for nearly a decade.
