In April 2015, Anna went on a hunger strike to build pressure on the government to pass the Lokpal Bill to punish the people involved in corruption. In 1992 for his exemplary social service Anna was awarded Padma Bhushan, third highest civilian award by the Government of India.

Born on June 15, 1941 T. R. Baalu is a Tamil politician. In his political journey, he went to jail 20 times. However, he came to the limelight during the emergency, he was jailed for a year under Maintenance of Internal Security Act of 1976, for challenging and opposing it.

1215 Magna Carta accepted by the King John
On June 15, 1215, King John of England put the royal seal on Magna Carta, after the revolt by his subjects. It was a treaty by which King John accepted that the King would respect the feudal rights and privileges as well as to maintain peace and law. Later,this document became vital in establishing democracy in England.
1775 George Washington lead a Continental Army
On June 15, 1775, George Washington accepted an assignment to lead the continental army, this was the reason that people elected him for the Presidential post. After six years of struggle, Washington managed to lead the army and attained many victories.
1846 US Canadian border drawn
On June 15, 1846, one of the long-pending conflicts between Britain and the USA was resolved. The representatives of Britain and the United Nations signed the Oregon Treaty, establishing the 49th parallel from the Rocky Mountains. According to the treaty, the United States gained control over Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana; and the British reserved Vancouver Island and navigation rights to part of the Columbia River.
1864 Battle of Petersburg begins
On June 15, 1864 Ulysses S. Grant’s Army and Northern Virginia army headed by Robert E. Lee collided for the last time as the first wave of Union troops attacked Petersburg. Both the armies fought valiantly until April 9, when Lee finally surrendered and his army went home.
