Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova was the first female cosmonaut to travel to space. After spending 48 orbits and 71 hours into space, which was combined with the time spent by all the American cosmonauts that time, returned back to the earth.

Film director/writer Imtiaz Ali born

Born on June 16, 1971, in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. Imtiyaz Ali is an Indian film director, producer and writer. Imtiyaz started his career with television shows. He was writing and directing the shows some of his shows are Imtehaan, Naina and Kurukshetra. Imtiaz made his directorial debut in 2005 with Socha na Tha, it didn’t go well for him. However, he got his breakthrough in a Movie Jab We Met starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. Since then he has produced many blockbuster films.

 

Amaal Mallik born

Born on June 16, 1991, Armaan Malik is an Indian music director, singer and lyricist in the Hindi film. He is the grandson of Sardar Malik and the son of Daboo Malik and Jyothi Malik. Amaan started learning music at the age of 8. He made his debut in Salman Khan’s film Jai Ho in 2014.

 

 

1943 Charlie Chaplin married Oona O’Neill

 

On June 16, 1943, Oona O’Neill who was just 18 years old married internationally famous actor and filmmaker Charlie Chaplin, who was 54 years old at that time. O’Neill was the daughter of famous playwright and the winner of Pulitzer Prize Eugene O’Neill.

On June 16, 1963, Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova became the first female to travel into space. After 48 orbits and 71 hours she returned back to the earth.

On June 16, 1977, Leonid Brezhnev Was elected as the President of the Soviet Union, hence he became the head of the state as well as of the party. After the removal of Khrushchev from the power, Brezhnev was elected as the first secretary in his place.
