History –  International

1958 – NASA was stared for the first time

The establishment of NASA was done after the very next period of Sputnik Crises. It was the period that evoked the desire to be the most advanced nation in terms of technology in the mind of western people. As a result of the Sputnik crisis, NASA began operations on October 1, 1958, with its 8,000 employees and an annual budget of $100 million. Today,  NASA has three major laboratories, known as laboratories-Langley Aeronautical Laboratory, Ames Aeronautical Laboratory, and Lewis Flight Propulsion Laboratory-and two smaller test facilities.

1971 – The first use of CT Scan

The first CT scanner was built by Godfrey Hounsfield and was used on 1st October 1971. It was designed to take pictures of the brain to scan the tumor in a 41-year-old female patient. Tomographic techniques had been used since the 1930s, but Hounsfield was the first to combine an X‑ray machine and a computer.

1949 –  Establishment of the People’s Republic of China 

China is a country of East Asia which is covering approximately 9.6 million square kilometers and known as the world’s third or fourth-largest country by area. The Chinese Civil War provided a victory to Mao Zedong’s Communist forces over the Kuomintang forces. Following the victory, Mao Zedong announced the origination of the People’s Republic of China on 1 October 1949.

1880 – Inaugration of First Electric Lamp Factory

The aim of Thomas Alva Edison was, to produce a long-lasting electric bulb. He worked thousands of hours for the experiment of filament.  The experiment was done on 1,200 different varieties and the ideal filament was found in 1879. After a year, on 1st October 1880, Thomas Alva Edison opened the First electric lamp factory in America which was known as the golden era of that time.

1982 – SONY  launched First CD Player

The first commercial Compact disc of the world was launched on October 1, 1982.  Named as SONY CDP-101, it was launched by SONY Global company in Japan and at that particular time, it was costed almost rupees 50.000.

1869 –  The first use of Postcard

The postcard was created by Dr. Emmanual Hermann of Vienna who was a professor of economics. The official creating and printing of postcards started on 1st October 1869. It was used by an Austrian Post Office for the very first time.

Indian Events

1906 – Birth Anniversary of S D Burman

Sachin Dev Burman, an Indian music director, and singer were born on October 1, 1906, in Bangladesh. He was a member of the Tripura royal family and started his career with Bengali films in 1937. He later began composing for Hindi movies and became one of the most successful and influential Bollywood film music composers.

1919 – Majrooh Sultanpuri Birth Anniversary

Asrar ul Hassan Khan, also known as Majrooh Sultanpuri, was an Indian Urdu poet and lyricist in India’s Hindi language film industry.  He was born on 1st October 1919 and has written Hindustani lyrics for numerous Hindi film soundtracks.
