1869 – Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Ji

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi commonly known as Mahatma Gandhi was born on 2nd October 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat. He is associated as the National Father of India and has contributed a lot to Indian Independence. He was the leader of India’s non-violent independence movement against British rule and also started in the Satyagraha movement from South Africa to all over the world. Today, October 2nd is celebrated as International Day of Non- Violence to pay tribute to his philosophy and strategy of civil rights all over the world.

1904 –  Birth Anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji

Lal Bahadur Shastri was an Indian politician who served as the subsequent Prime Minister of India. He was born on 2nd October 1904 in Mughalsarai, situated in Uttar Pradesh. He advanced the White Revolution, a public mission to build the creation and supply of milk. Likewise, he also assisted Amul milk co-usable in Anand, Gujarat, and made the National Dairy Development Board. He is known today all over the world for his Quotation of Jai Jawaan Jai Kisaan as an appreciation to the farmers.

1975 –  Death Anniversary of K. Kamran

Kumaraswami Kamaraj was the founder and the president of the Indian National Congress. He is widely associated as the “Kingmaker” in Indian politics during the 1960s. He served as the president of the INC for four years between 1964–1967 and has worked as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu during the period of 1962- 1963. Being a social worker and politician, people today praise him for his idea of the Mid Day Meal scheme in government schools for which he was awarded the Bharat Ratna Award.

1992- First programming of ZeeTV

Zee TV is a Hindi language general entertainment channel owned by the Essel Group in India. It was programmed on 2nd October 1992 for the very first time on AIR by Subhash Chandra Goenka. It is associated with several other channels that provide services in Hindi, English, and several regional languages of India. Today Zee TV has more than 20 channels and it is assumed that it has over 300 million viewers in over 120 countries.

1925 – First Television Test

The first Television Test was taken on October 2, 1925, by John Logie Baird, a Scottish engineer, and an Inventor. The test was performed in the London Lab, where Baird successfully transmitted the first television picture with a grayscale image. The picture was scanned in a ventriloquist’s dummy in about a 30-line vertical image, at five pictures per second.
