Indian facts and history

1916 – Birth Anniversary of Deendayal Upadhyay

Deendayal Upadhyaya was an Indian politician and was born on 25th September 1916 in Mathura. He was a thinker of right-wing Hindutva ideology espoused by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He also worked as the leader of the political party Bharatiya Jana Sangh as the forerunner of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

1920 – Birth Anniversary of Satish Dhawan

Satish Dhawan was an Indian mathematician and aerospace engineer. He was born on 25th September 1920 in Srinagar and further completed his education in the United States. He is widely regarded as the father of experimental fluid dynamics research in Indian and awarded Padma Vibhushan and Indira Gandhi Award for National Integration.

1524 – Vasco Da Gama Last Voyage in India

( Porteguese Nobleman Vasco Da Gama)

Vasco da Gama was the first person to sail directly from Europe to India. In 1497, he was commissioned by the Portuguese king to find a maritime route to the East. After the two successful voyages, his third and last voyage took place on 25th September 1524 when he reached India as Viceroy. History declares this as his last voyage and after that, he died due to his illness in Kochi.

International Inventions and History

1956 – First Transatlantic Telegraph Cable 

Transatlantic Telephone Cable System 1 (TAT-1) was inaugurated on 25 September 1956 for the very first time. The system was constructed with a three-way telephone conversation between New York, Ottawa, and London. The capacity of the cable was increased to 48 channels and later, three channels were also added by the use of C Carrier equipment.

2008 – Launch Date of Shenzhou 7

Shenzhou 7 was the third spaceflight mission of the Chinese space program, which was launched on 25th September 2008. The mission included the first Chinese extra-vehicular activity carried out by crew members Zhai Zhigang and Liu Boming. The success of this mission commenced the second phase of the Chinese government’s Project 921.

1950 – Second Battle of Seoul

The Second Battle of Seoul was started on September 22, 1950. The pivotal battle of the Korean War occurred when United Nations forces recapture Seoul, the capital of South Korea. The arrogance of South Korea was degraded when the Soviet Union captured the 7,000-strong Korean People’s Army garrison on 25th September 1950.

1926 – Five Days Work Policy

On September 25, 1926, Henry Ford, the founder of Ford Motors Company introduced a new working policy to the world. His company became the first significant company to change the work policy or Labour law to 40-hour weeks with five working days with no change in wages. Later on, this policy was adopted by every institution in the world for the smooth functioning of manpower.
