2012 – Texting Champion Winner

1967 – Vietnam American Helicopter Attack

2018 – Former Bhushan Steel MD arrested
On August 9, 2018, Indian authorities arrested Neeraj Singhal, a former managing director of Bhushan Steel Ltd, over alleged fraud, after a probe found billions of rupees had been siphoned off by the firm’s founders from funds borrowed from state-run banks.
2006 – Ban on Soft Drinks in Kerala
On August 9, 2006, Kerala banned the sale and production of Coke, Pepsi, Sprite and other soft drinks because of concerns over pesticide contamination.
1996 – Food Poisoning in Bhiwandi
On August 9, 1996, there was an incident of food poisoning caused by Clostridium botulinum. and 6 people died and 106 people fell ill after eating at a canteen in the town of Bhiwandi.
