1965 – End of Second Indo-Pak War

The second Indo-Pak conflict was fought over Kashmir and began on 5th August 1965. The war ended on 22nd September 1965, in which India won 1,920 sq km of territory and Pakistan got 540 sq km of land. Apart from this victory, the losses counted almost 2,862 Indian soldiers and 5800 Pakistani Soldiers.

1970 – Death Anniversary of Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay

Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay was an Indian Bengali-writer. His works are famous in Indian Literature with the themes of Crime and Thriller. He has given many notable works like Byomkesh Bakshi in Indian Cinema and Bengali Literature.

1791 – Birth Anniversary of Michael Faraday

Michael Faraday FRS was born on 22nd September 1791 in London. He was an English scientist who contributed to the study of electromagnetism and electrochemistry. His main discoveries include the principles conducting electromagnetic induction, diamagnetism, and electrolysis.

1980 – Iran-Iraq War

On September 22, 1980, Iraq forces invaded Iran along with the country joint border. The war took place over the Borderlines of these two countries, stated by Iraq dictator Saddam Hussein. Huge destruction was caused by the ballistic-missile attacks and extensive use of chemical weapons. War ended in 1988 and a formal agreement of peace was signed on 16th August 1990.

1792 – First French Republic

The First Republic or officially the French Republic was founded on 22 September 1792 during the French Revolution. It lasted until the declaration of the First Empire in 1804 under Napoleon. The main focus of the first republic was abolishing the monarchy and drafting a new constitution.

2007 – Exploration of Mars

On 22nd September 2007, NASA’s Mars Odyssey spacecraft discovered entrances to seven possible caves on the slopes of a Martian volcano. The discovery gave many facts related to potential underground habitats and sparking searches for caverns on Mars.

2000- World Car Free Day

World Car Free Day is celebrated on September 22 every year. The idea was given by London resident Marco Picardi to encourage motorists to give up their cars for a day. The events vary by location and give motorists and commuters an idea to think about environmental peace.
