1893 Rahul Sankrityayan was born

Born in Pandaha, Uttar Pradesh, Rahul is one of the most travelled scholars in India. He is referred as the father of Indian Travelogue travel literature. He has spent 45 years travelling all over the world and wrote a detailed and authentic experience of his travel history. The government of India awarded him the civilian award of Padma Bhushan in 1963.

1940 Germany invades Norway and Denmark

German warships enter major Norwegian ports deploying thousands of German soldiers and capturing Norway. Simultaneously, German soldiers occupy Copenhagen, and other Danish cities.

1942 US troops surrendered in Bataan

Largest ever US surrender. Major General Edward P. King jr. surrendered at Bataan, Philippines-against of General Douglas orders. 78000 troops (66,000 Filipino and 12,000 American Soldiers) the largest US contingent ever to surrender.

1980 Saddam Hussain murdered Muhammad Baqir

A renowned philosopher and the founder of the “Islamic Dawa Party” Mohammad Baqir and her sister were murdered by the Iraqi Dictator Saddam Hussain.

1979 “All the President’s men” released

Based on a novel written by two journalists Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, detailing their investigation on ‘Water Gates’ which resulted in the resignation of US president John Kennedy. All the president’s men the movie was directed by Alan J. Pakula.

2003 Baghdad fall

Baghdad falls to US army just. Just three weeks into the invasion of Iraq. The US troops pulldown the bronze statue of Saddam Hussain in Baghdad’s Firdous Square Symbolizing the end of Iraqi President Saddam Hussain’s regime. There was widespread looting after the downfall of Saddam Hussain.

2005 Prince Charles marries Camilla parker
