1795, Peace of Basel
On July 22, 1795, Spain signed the Peace of Basel with France. It was a pact ending the war of the Pyrenees. The pact entrusted Santo Domingo to France.
1933, Wiley Post Flying solo around the world
On July 22, 1933, Wiley Post became the first man to fly around the earth solely in his Plywood monocoque aircraft named Winnie Mae.
1991, Jeffrey Dahmer was caught
On July 22, 1991, Jeffery Dahmer was caught by Police. He was considered as one of the most sadistic serial killers of that time. When his flat was checked it was littered with human remains including human heads in the refrigerator. He later confessed to killing 17 people from 1978 to 1991.
1992, Pablo Escobar Escaped
On July 22, 1992, Pablo Escobar a drug dealer of Colombia, he escaped from his luxurious prison which was in La Catedral near Medellin. He was once named as the 7th richest person on the earth by Forbes Magazine.
2003, Iraq Saddam Hussein’s Sons got Killed
On July 22, 2003, Sons of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, Qusay Hussein and Uday Hussein were killed in a firefight with U.S.A forces in an Iraqi city Mosul.

1702, English Company of merchants was Renamed
On July 22, 1702, The ‘English Company of Merchants’, the old East India Company was renamed as “The United Company of Merchants of England Trading to the East Indies”. Later in 1833, the name was changed as “The East India Company”.
1918, India’s first pilot died in world War
On July 22, 1918, Indra Lal Rai was shot down in a fight with German Planes near London, during World War I. He fought from Britisher’s side.
1970, Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya was transferred
On July 22, 1970, Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, College of Agriculture, Palampur was transferred as Agricultural Complex of Himachal Pradesh University.
1981, Satellite APPLE Started Functioning
On July 22, 1981, India’s first geostationary satellite APPLE(Ariane Passenger Payload Experiment) started functioning after being launched on 19th July of the same year by ISRO.
1996, Annual Budget was Presented in Parliament
