All these events have shaped us. There are many stories which we can go through and see how long the human history is, and how people have contributed to make this earth a habitual place. There are thousands of stories which can teach us lessons and mistakes people have made, and we can learn not to repeat those mistakes again.

Justice Anna Chandy, First Indian women judge, born

Born on May 4, 1905, Justice Anna Chandy, also known as Anna Chandy, was the first female judge in India and she was also the first woman in India to become a High Court judge. In 1937, she became a judge and in fact one of the first female judge in the British Empire next to Emily Murphy.

Indian Revolutionary Atulkrishna Ghosh born

Born on May 4, 1980, Atulkrishna Ghosh is an Indian revolutionary, member of the Anushilan Samiti, and a leader of the Jugantar movement involved in Hindu German Conspiracy during World War I. He was born in Nadia district, West Bengal.

Indian Musician Tyagaraja

Born on May 4, 1767, Tyagaraja is a highly regarded and renowned composer of Carnatic music, a tribal music form. Tyagaraja composed thousands of devotional compositions, most in Telugu and in praise of Lord Rama, many of which are still popular.

1776 Rhode Island the first colony to declare Independence

On May 4, 1776, Rhode Island became the first North American colony to renounce its allegiance to King George III. Ironically, 4 years later Rhode Island ratified the new American Constitution. Rhode Island was specially important mercantile centre of the transatlantic slave trade in the 18th century.

1865 President Lincoln’s Buried

On May 4, 1886, American President Abraham Lincoln is laid to rest in his hometown of Springfield, Illinois. His funeral train carried him through 180 cities to reach his hometown. On April 14, 1886, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by a famous actor John Wilkes Booth, a very staunch supporter of Confederate. The attack took place just five days after Confederate’s surrendered at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, hence ended the American civil war.

1916 Germany agrees to limit its submarine warfare

On May 4, 1916, responding to the demand of the U.S president, Woodrow Wilson, Germany agreed to limit the Submarine warfare.

1945 Rise of Red Army

On May 4, 1945, Soviet Foreign Minister Molotov informs the U.S. Secretary of State Stettinius, that the Red Army has arrested 16 Polish peace negotiators.  near Warsaw back in March, they had met with a Soviet army colonel.

1994 Palestine self-rule accord signed

Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat reached an agreement, in Cairo on May 4, 1994, on the first agreement of Palestine self-rule. The agreement signed concerns four subjects, security arrangements, civil affairs, legal matters, and economic relations. It was the first face to face meeting between the leaders of Palestine and Israel.
